Dehadhyas (the belief that ‘I am the body’) does not leave without [the grace of] the Gnani Purush (the Self-realized One, who can help others realize the Self). The Gnani Purush is vitaraag (one who is free from all attachment). He constantly remains in Swa-parinati (the natural state of the Self). The Gnani Purush does not remain [engrossed] in the body, mind, intellect or ego. That is why only the Gnani Purush can free us from our belief that 'I am the body.'
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanWhen the Self (Atma) becomes engrossed (tanmayakar) in the resultant states of the mind, then meditation (dhyan) arises.
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanWhen one is engrossed (tanmayakar) in objects to be known (gneyo), then he is considered to be inside the universe and when One Sees the objects to be known as objects to be known, then One is considered to be outside the universe.
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanIf you become engrossed with the prakruti (non-Self complex), then You should immediately say, ‘This should not be so.’ And so, You are released from the responsibility!
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanLord Mahavir was considered to be samay vichaari (one who has thoughts that change every samay, the smallest, most indivisible unit of time), yet He was not involved in them [the thoughts]. The thoughts would change from one samay to the next! Our people generally get lost in a single thought for ten to fifteen minutes at a time! Many even remain engrossed for an hour! A new world can actually be created in an hour! But one may be preoccupied in just about anything! In subjects that he likes!
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanThe mind is made up of karmic tubers. The thoughts which arise in the mind are generated from the tubers of the mind. When those thoughts arise, if One remains separate from them, if One does not become engrossed (tanmayakaar) in the thoughts, if One remains the Knower-Seer of them, then the breaking of the tuber (granthibhed) is considered to have taken place. To become engrossed in thoughts means that depending on the kind of thought that arises, a corresponding internal state of being (dhyaan) arises.
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanEverything is filled within this body; anger, joy, sorrow. However, when the Self does not become engrossed in that and when every circumstance of the pudgal (non-Self complex of input and output) is Known as an effect of the non-Self (parparinaam), that is considered Conduct as the Self (samyak Charitra)!
