Renounce (tyaag) if it is in your prakruti (inherent nature). Do penance (tapa) if it is in your prakruti. Chant (japa) if it is in your prakruti. But except for the attainment of the Self, everything else is a waste.
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanWherever there is kashay, there is no religion of the Vitarag at all. God does not want one to renounce anything. One needs to become free from kashays. kashay-free state is considered the religion of moksha, while renouncing is considered religion of the world.
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanIt is called saiyam [inner control] when anger-pride-deceit-greed are under control. However those who renounce are not called saiyami [those with inner control]; they are called ‘tyagi’, one who renounces worldly life.
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanThere are two types of worldly life: renouncing [tyaag] is a worldly life and family life [gruhasti] is also a worldly life. Those who renounce are constantly in the knowledge of ‘I am renouncing…I am renouncing’. And the family man prevails in the knowledge of ‘I am acquiring…I am taking…I am giving’. But the one, who attains knowledge of the self [soul], will attain liberation (moksha). Where does one acquire Knowledge of the Self? From the ‘Gnani Purush’ [the Enlightened One].
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanWhen worldly people come into a set discipine (niyam), they are known as yamdhari (one who upholds self restraint). From the moment one holds onto any set discipline, he is considered to have come into self restraint (yam). The tyaagis (ones who have renounced worldly life) are considered to be niyami (one who follows a set discipline) whereas the Gnanis are considered saiyami (One who has no anger-pride-deceit-greed, attachment and abhorrence).
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanThe One whose ego (ahamkar) and my-ness (mamata) go away completely, is considered a complete tyaagi (one who has renounced worldly life).
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanYou will have to suffer the consequences of all that you renounce. Is it in our control to renounce (tyaag)? Is it in our control to acquire (grahan)? That is actually dependent upon one's merit-demerit karma (punya-paap)!
Param Pujya Dada BhagwanYou do not have to renounce anything. The path of liberation is not one of acquisition or renunciation at all. Acquisition and renunciation are actually a part of the auspicious and inauspicious path. This [Akram Science] is actually the path to liberation; it is the path of [attaining] the absolute state of the Self (Parmatma pad). One only has to understand it.
